Familiarise yourself with the exam rules and guidelines. Read the Exam Rules page and the Terms and Conditions. You will be asked to agree to the Terms and Conditions prior to starting the exam.

  • Check the exam date and time carefully. You can only reschedule or cancel the exam up to 48 hours before the exam is to take place.
  • Make sure you have government-issued photo identity for the exam. The proctors will check if the name on the ID matches the name used to register for the exam. You might need to update your RIPE NCC Access account details so that the names match before scheduling your exam.
  • Please also ensure you have a quiet, undisturbed space for the duration of the exam.
  • You have 60 minutes to complete the exam.
  • Your computer must have a functioning webcam and good Internet connectivity for the proctored exam to take place
  • Please ensure that you have checked your system compatibility with the exams platform.
  • Keep in mind that the proctor will ask you to show the whole room and also your desk and the area below your desk using the webcam before starting the exam. If you are using a desktop computer, consider using an external webcam.

On the Exam Day

There are strict guidelines to uphold the integrity of the exam. Here are some important details that the proctor will check:

ID Check

  • You will be asked to show a valid government issued photo identity document to the proctor before starting the exam.
  • The exam will begin only after the proctor has verified your identity and checked the exam room.
  • Please note that proctors are authorised to stop an exam in case of an mismatch between the identity document and the registered candidate name.

Room Check

  • You must be alone throughout the exam.
  • You are not allowed to wear a watch, have any books (including your own notebooks), reference material, mobile phones etc. with you.
  • The proctor can ask to check the room and furniture, including the area below your desk.
  • You can also be asked to roll up your sleeves, or empty out your pockets.
  • The proctor can suspend or stop the exam at any time if they suspect malpractice.

System Check

  • The exam takes place within the secure browser, which blocks access not only to other websites but also to other programmes on your computer. You will need to save and close any files or tabs that are open. Please be prepared to give the exam your undivided attention.
  • It is possible to access the exam portal 30 minutes before the exam begins. We advise you to make use of this time to download the secure browser and test system compatibility.
  • When the exam begins, PSI will connect to your camera and microphone to stream video and audio – they will not take control of your desktop while proctoring.
  • The exam must be started within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time. In case of a longer delay, it is automatically cancelled.
